Steam not validating game files

It's the most direct way to solve the issue and I hope that you're as successful as I was. I can't get past my opening menu on Skyrim no matter what I do, I have tried uninstalling Skyrim and steam and have deleted all mods and files remaining, I disable UAC permissions, and I have verified game cache several times where it says: 1 file failed verification, it will be reacquired.

I've run into an issue where when I run "Verify integrity of game cache" it ALWAYS finds files to validate.

It has happened on two games now: Total War Rome II and Call of Duty Ghosts.

I was wrong, though, since the validation found no problems with the installation and the game continued to not launch from the same error.

I'm curious as to what exactly the verify option does.

When you try to launch the game again, the game will be fixed if Steam finds anything wrong with it and should be fully operational!

I downloaded & installed Skyrim DG/HF/HD-DLC through Steam and when I try to verify cache, I keep getting an error that 1 file failed to validate. Both games crash frequently and both games find files that fail to validate, but they NEVER have all files successfully validate and I've been unable to get either to run without crashing after 10-30 minutes.I have 4 other games installed on Steam and all of them are able to successfully validate all files. So I clicked the Verify thing and I could play Stanley pabs again! I recently posted this to the Steam Community, thinking that was a more appropriate place for it..they were useless (see for yourself), and I've always gotten better answers from Tom's users, so I'm hoping someone might have some insight into this.Have you ever downloaded a large 20GB game on Steam only to find out that it won't run due to corrupt or missing files?
